CEC Taiwan awarded contracts for the C2 Renshui Tunnel on Suhua Highway, and building construction project at the site of the former Jingmei Financial Training Center

CEC Taiwan recently achieved great progress in both civil and building construction markets. First, in April, CEC Taiwan obtained from Huaku Development the contract to construct a building at the site of the former Jingmei Financial Training Center, Taipei. On May 30, it received notice from the Directorate General of Highways, MOTC, that it has won the bid to construct Renshui Tunnel on Suhua Highway, part of an effort to renovate the highway located in eastern Taiwan. Winning the bid with competition from strong competitors, including Shimizu Corporation Taiwan Office and Obras Subterraneas S.A. Taiwan Branch, is indeed a significant achievement.

The C2 Renshui Tunnel project is part of the effort to renovate the “Hezhong-Qingshui” section of Suhua Highway, and CEC Taiwan won the bid with NT$2.69 billion (approximately US$89.5 million). Total length of the tunnel that CEC Taiwan will be in charge of is 3.38 km. This includes 2. 9 km for the tunnel’s main body as well as other facilities including a dispersion channel, eight evacuation channels, ventilation channels, embankment and cut, and the steel box bridge at the southern exit. The project is expected to be completed in 2019.

As for the Huaku project, it is divided into two sections. The first section, named SOHO, is to be developed into a residential building with three underground floors and 19 aboveground floors; the second section, named YOHO, is to be developed into four residential buildings with two underground floors and 16/18/21/22 aboveground floors. The total floor area is 89,489.16 m2. CEC Taiwan won the contract with NT$3.95 billion (approximately US$131.5 million), and the project is to be completed in Q2 2017.
