CEC Taiwan awarded the CQ842 contract, part of the first-phase construction of the Wanda-Zhonghe-Shulin metro line by Taipei City Government
CEC Taiwan on October 15 was awarded the CQ842 contract, part of the first-phase construction of the Wanda-Zhonghe-Shulin metro line spearheaded by Taipei City Government. CEC Taiwan beat strong local competitors including New Asia, RSEA Constructors & Engineers, and Pan Asia and won the contract.
The project, awarded with US$82 million (NT$2.467 billion), entails construction and finishing of the LG02 Station and two twin TBM tunnels, between LG02 to LG03 and LG02 to LG01. The diameter of tunnels is 5.6 meters, and the lengths are 427 meters and 751 meters, respectively.
The LG02 station is an archaeologic site, which may be damaged by construction of the station, its entrances and exits, and ventilation shafts via the cut-and-cover method. The project therefore has to go side-by-side with the LG02 Botanical Garden archaeologic site preservation initiative. Construction must be carried out with a balance between safety and cultural preservation — something that CEC is strong at. Construction period is expected to be completed in 2023.
